General Aspects about The Mantaro Hydroelectric Complex

 

 
Mantaro Hydroelectric Complex, located in the region of Huancavelica, began operations in 1973, and includes installations of Tablachaca Reservoir located in the town of Quichua, with dam capacity of 8 million m3. There the water from the river Mantaro is stored, and through a tunnel of 19,8 km derived the waters to the turbines of the seven (7) generators of the Santiago Antunez de Mayolo Hydroelectric Power Plant with 798 MW of power. The water is conducted by a waterfall at three (3) turbines of 210 MW capacity of the Restitution Hydroelectric Power Plant.​

 
The energy produced in power plants connected to the Sub Station Armiño Field where are transmitted through the transmission lines of 220 KV to the National Interconnected Electric System, covering North, Central and South of the country. The supply of energy from Mantaro Complex exceeds 7000 GWh compared to 20000 GWh of hydroelectric generation nationwide.
