ELECTROPERU S.A. was established on 5 September 1972 by the Decree-Law No. 19521- Electricity Standards Law - As a public company in the electricity sector. Thus this device as the Decree-Law No. 19522 - Organic Law ELECTROPERU – that conferred the company the responsibility for managing the State of the Electric Sub-Sector in use of energy resources associated with the production, transmission, distribution and trading of electricity throughout the country. Its legal status and corporate name was modified on March 4, 1981 by Legislative Decree No. 41, becoming a state company under private law, Electricity Company of Peru - ELECTROPERU S.A.
